Talking to PPI, Iqbal Haider said till to date the government was not transparent in the ongoing relief activity because many affected people are still without relief goods.
He said the government should make the whole process transparent for the public, adding the government is accountable for every single paisa of aid arrived from the foreign countries or money submitted by the public of country before the masses court.
Iqbal Haider pointed out that there should be a long-term planning under which the government should take all possible measures for the quake survivors because temporary help would not be enough for rehabilitation in their native villages.
He deplored that the government is only focusing on the short-term strategy and further displacing the affected people from these tent villages would again be a great task for the government itself.
Iqbal Haider also expressed his concern on the constitution of Earthquake Rehabilitation & Reconstruction Authority (ERRA) headed by army general and stressed the need for involving the AJK government and provincial government in this process while demanding decentralisation of the rehabilitation and reconstruction commission.
He informed that two fact finding teams sent by HRCP who are assessing the human rights condition in the quake-hit areas specially the women rights and children rights as well and would submit their reports soon.
